Make Room For The New

Do you ever feel like something’s missing in your life? Maybe it’s because it can’t find an open place to land.

Most success coaches have their own version of this line, but the message is pretty consistent. The things you want also want you – you just have to be willing to do what it takes to bring them in. For over a decade now, I’ve been working with people one-on-one and in large groups to help them break through to a new level of success.

I’ve discovered something interesting.

When folks find themselves coming up short on their dreams, it often has nothing to do with how clear their vision is or how hard they’re working. In many cases it’s because they haven’t created SPACE in their lives to hold this new thing – whether it’s a skill, a possession, a relationship or a certain amount of money.

Let’s dig into this idea a little deeper.

Martial arts masters have a saying. Okay… they have a LOT of sayings, but I’m thinking of this one in particular that fits our topic today. They say that you can’t pour tea into a full cup. Give yourself some time to get quiet and consider this idea today. Is it possible that you’re holding onto something that might be blocking whatever it is you really want?

Here are some examples of things that might be keeping life from refilling your prosperity cup with what you desire most:

  1. Outdated beliefs about money
  2. Outdated beliefs about what you can achieve and what you deserve
  3. Useless clutter in your living or working environment
  4. Too much time spent with people who don’t support your dreams
  5. Too much investment in people who don’t share your values
  6. A vocabulary that’s grounded in your old reality instead of your new one
  7. Obsessive thinking about past events, choices, results
  8. Personal habits that no longer move you forward
  9. Old agreements with others that can be dropped or re-negotiated
  10. Old goals or plans that can be dropped or re-imagined
  11. Old resentments that drain your attention and energy that can be released
  12. Labor intensive activities or possessions that no longer add value to your life

If goals and dreams are not manifesting that you’ve written down and acted on every day without fail, here’s the most simple remedy I can offer you. It’s TOUGH sometimes, but it works. Get rid of what you don’t want to make room for what you do want.

Here’s what I know for sure.

Whatever you think is missing in your life, there’s nothing else you need to do, add or become to deserve it. It’s really okay to want what you want, and it’s a safe bet that you can start dreaming a lot bigger. You’re not going to break the bank. We’re surrounded by abundance every minute of every day. If you’re seeing it, affirming it and acting on it, it might be that only one thing remains for you to do. Stop blocking it.

Oh, and if you’ve already made progress in this area and want to try the advanced trail, try this on for size. TODAY, are you willing to set aside what you want now for what you want most? Every day I get to work side by side with big dreamers who are releasing the old and welcoming the new. It’s an inspiring, rewarding life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
