Think Like An Owner

I couldn’t have said it better than rocker Sammy Hagar did when someone asked him about his offstage business empire. “I don’t endorse. I own.” That sums it up for me. Listen, if you really want to get ahead in life, you’ve got to start thinking like an owner – not like a consumer.

We’ve been raised in a society that conditions us to “fit in” starting in grade school. As we get older, there’s more and more pressure to just go along to get along and not make too many waves.

What’s the goal of all this brainwashing?

Ultimately, it’s to create masses of compliant consumers who don’t expect much from life and don’t ask too many questions. In case you haven’t noticed, this isn’t how entrepreneurs choose to live. Let’s contrast these two ways of thinking and see how they stack up.

Consumers typically ask:

  1. How much does it cost?
  2. How can I play it safe?
  3. How much will this cost me per month?
  4. How much can I get?
  5. Does this job come with benefits?
  6. Can I afford a vacation this year?

Owners typically ask:

  1. How much is it worth?
  2. Which risks will bring the biggest rewards?
  3. How much revenue will this generate per month?
  4. What can I create?
  5. Does this venture inspire me?
  6. What memories will I make this year?

Look, I’ll give you a pass (but not for long!) and tell you that learning to think like a consumer initially was not your fault. It’s been a part of our culture since the industrial revolution. It IS your fault if you CONTINUE to think that way, especially after you realize that it’s possible to become an owner and start playing by a whole new set of rules.

Even then, it’s going to require some mental toughness on your part.

When I first became an entrepreneur, I have to confess that it took me a while to shift my thinking. Even though I had left my corporate blinders behind, I was still showing up like a consumer for a while when it came to investing in my business. It took some time and practice to start asking real owner’s questions about the training and marketing opportunities required to really raise my game to a new level.

Network marketing has been my passion for over a decade now and I’ve helped thousands of individuals make that mental shift. I’ve been a part of some great business models in my day and made it to the top with some really great people, but I’ve never seen anything like the success potential of Real Estate Worldwide. When word gets around about the bulletproof system we have in place to train, equip and position the next generation of millionaire entrepreneurs, the entire game is going to change.

Becoming an owner and thinking like one is not only possible – it’s just one decision away from becoming a reality for you. I’ve seen single parents who were struggling to make the rent every month fund college for their kids. I’ve seen people who were desperate after a layoff begin earning more than the CEO of their former employer within a few months. I’ve seen people with more “limitations” than you have right now turn them into a lifestyle of abundance, but in every case it began with a belief and a choice.

If you’re willing to start asking new questions and taking new action, it can happen for you.
